"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in...I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:35, 40
There is a guideline we go by to help people in need. It is based on the number of people in your home and the household income:
Beef, pork, and deer may be donated to the Food Pantry. If you would like to donate, please ask the processing plant to have all meat ground and packaged in one pound packages. Gardeners: Fresh garden produce is also accepted.
Over 3200 people were served during the first six months of 2009, which cost nearly $10,000 in addition to food that was donated. In July, 2009 a building expansion project on the Linton Community Food Pantry and Thrift Store facility was completed to increase the capacity of the building to better meet the ever-growing need. A Grand Opening celebration took place in July for the new expansion.
The Food Pantry is operated solely from donations, and is a collaborative effort of Linton Assembly of God, Linton Church of Christ, Linton First Christian Church, Linton First United Methodist Church , New Covenant Ministries, Saron United Church of Christ, St. Peter's Catholic Church, and Trinity Lutheran Church. Along with churches, many businesses and individuals in the community contribute. All churches and individuals are encouraged to participate.
Donations of food and good quality clothing are accepted only during business hours at the Food Pantry. Donation bins are available 24/7 at both entrances of Linton First Christian Church.
All donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE. 100% of monetary donations go toward the purchase of food to be given out.
